“Liverpool is the Pool of Life” – C G Jung

TOURISM

Liverpool, a City of Heritage, Culture and warm hearted people….

In 2008 Liverpool was awarded European Capital of Culture. The legacy of this is now an amazing city that keeps getting better every year.

When you think of Liverpool you probably think of The Beatles and Liverpool Football Club but believe us there is so much more to Liverpool.

Liverpool is surprisingly compact, with plenty of open space, landscaped areas and more FREE museums and art galleries than anywhere outside London.

Please click on the “ Liverpool Attractions” link below to read what our guests and students have to say about ……………

Our facebook page is more like a  “What’s on guide” to Liverpool. Every week we post a schedule of forthcoming events, exhibitions, festivals and news items.

We love the energy and atmosphere of our city.

We are sure you will too.

Liverpool is essentially divided into 4 zones

The Georgian Quarter – Hope Street

Hope Street is known locally as the Cathedral Street. The Metropolitan Cathedral at one end and the world’s second largest Anglican Cathedral at the other.

Hope Street is the heart of the university district, so the streets are alive with students, just like Oxford or Cambridge.

It is also home to Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts,  the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Philharmonic  Pub, Everyman and Unity Theatres, and our academy The House of Professional English.

A 5 minute walk and you are in Chinatown, the oldest Chinese community in Europe. The largest Chinese Arch outside of China was a gift from Shanghai in 2000 after Liverpool was twinned with the city in 1999.

St George’s Conservation Quarter

Step back in time. These building show the confidence and philanthropy of the the Victorian era. A period when Liverpool grew and grew……

At the heart of the quarter is St Georges Hall. Next to the Hall is William Brown Library and Museum, Walker Art Gallery, World Museum, St John’s Gardens and the Liverpool Empire Theatre.

Liverpool 1 and Church Street

The new shopping complex L1 overlooks the Albert Dock and is crammed with 170 shop, bars, and restaurants.

In the centre of Church Street is The Bluecoat a cultural oasis  and the oldest building in Liverpool’s city centre. The Bluecoat boasts four free art galleries and a quiet courtyard cafe. A great place to have a coffee and escape the busy streets and shoppers.

Albert Dock and Waterfront

The Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and is the most visited multi-use attraction in the UK, outside London.

The attractions include: The Beatles Story, International Slavery Museum, Magical Mystery Tour, Maritime Museum and Tate Art Gallery. There are many quality shops, restaurants, bars and cafes surrounding the dock.

The Waterfront features : The Museum of Liverpool and The Three Graces, namely :

The Port of Liverpool Building

The Cunard Building

The Royal Liver Building –  topped with 2 famous Liver Birds, the symbol of Liverpool.

Finally, we recommend a trip on River Mersey Ferry for the best views of the Liverpool skyline.
